Nahu is the study of the way words in the Arabic language work together to form meaningful language. In short you can say it’s Arabic grammar. In this unit students gain the most foundational knowledge of Arabic grammar and morphology that paves the way for all further study of Arabic. This is the most important component of the Dream program. Students will learn the grammatical characteristics of nouns, verbs, prepositions, fragmented phrases and basic complete sentences.
Even the most difficult concepts can be successfully taught by breaking them down to simple, easy to grasp components step by step.
Teaching as a scholar and teaching as a fellow student are worlds apart. A teacher must put his or her own self in the student's shoes and share lessons with a bottom up approach not a top down one.
Students need motivation, encouragement, support, humor, a relaxed environment and a compelpng sense of purpose and accomppshment along their journey in order to succeed in their learning.
Though terminology is taught, concepts behind the terms should be emphasized far more than the terminology labepng it.
Each example, exercise and discussion should further the objective of the student; to understand the Qur'an better.
Students must be given ample opportunity to engage in peer to peer collaborative learning as it supplements even the best instructor lectures.
Every lesson that is taught should be directly tied to better appreciating the Qur'an so that students constantly get the sense they aren't just progressing in Arabic, they are progressing in their direct connection with the Qur'an. There is no greater sense of accomppshment or motivator to help students continue on their learning path.
The entire curriculum, its milestones and objectives must be thoroughly documented and clear to both students and teacher. At all times there should be awareness of where we are and where we are heading.
